Total Lunar Eclipse, Warning to American Christians? On December 21, 2010 a total lunar eclipse appeared over the entire North American continent on the winter solstice. For a total of 72 minutes, an eerie red shadow darkened the moon and cast a red amber glow over America. Throughout history it has been known that lunar eclipses or blood moons are an ominous sign of warning to the people of God, Israel (the church), while solar eclipses have been an ominous sign or warning to the nations. The last time a lunar eclipse occurred in this fashion was 372 years ago in the year 1638 when the first American colonies were just forming. In fact, the lunar eclipse on the winter solstice of December 21, 1638 was the first recorded astronomical event in the U.S. Excerpt from same NASA article:
This lunar eclipse falls on the date of the northern winter solstice. How rare is that? Total lunar eclipses in northern winter are fairly common. There have been three of them in the past ten years alone. A lunar eclipse smack-dab on the date of the solstice, however, is unusual. Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory inspected a list of eclipses going back 2000 years. "Since Year 1, I can only find one previous instance of an eclipse matching the same calendar date as the solstice, and that is 1638 DEC 21," says Chester. "Fortunately we won't have to wait 372 years for the next one...that will be on 2094 DEC 21." Strangely enough, the first recorded earthquake in the U.S. also occurred the same year. So these two eclipses are the only ones found on the winter solstice in the last 2000 years! That indeed is a rare sign. Perhaps these eclipses are intended to form book ends that mark a beginning and an ending of a notable time in American history? Perhaps the red glow of communism is poised to overtake America and put out the light of Christianity in America? As the picture is still a bit obscure, there are some notable clues that should be considered in order to discern what this sign could mean. It would seem that God is intending this sign to be a warning to America, as it was perfectly positioned to be witnessed by North America. The moon went into total eclipse right at the point of the constellation Orion's upheld arm which wields a weapon. Could this be a signal that the people of God could soon be put to flight? We should note that Orion has, since ancient times, depicted a "mighty hunter" -- from the same root meaning of when Nimrod was said to be a mighty hunter before the Lord. Betelgeuse, the second brightest star in Orion, is the ninth brightest star, according to Wikipedia, and has an ancient meaning: "The coming of the branch" (Christ in the man-child). The brightest star in Orion, Rigel, derives from an Arabic term meaning "the left leg of the giant" (Encyclopedia Britannica). From here in the Northern Hemisphere, Orion is situated in the eastern sky. Most likely there is an abundance of revelation to be discerned from these clues when properly interpreted. Additionally, the eclipse was also positioned at the tips of the horns of the bull (Taurus) which faces Orion. Could it be that God's fiery judgment is ready to be revealed, beginning first at the house of God? The number 72 found in the duration of the eclipse seems to be connected to the elect as (72x2=144). Perhaps with more study we can discern other connections with the numerics of the event. December 21, 2010 was the darkest and shortest day for 372 years. According to Fox News, "When a full lunar eclipse takes place on the shortest day of the year, the planet may just get awfully dark." Let's continue to prepare our hearts and embrace for difficult times ahead! Draw near to the Lord and let the Word of Christ dwell richly in your hearts and be not moved away from the hope of the Gospel during these dark times ahead. Do not let the world eclipse the light of the Son in your life!
