Unleavened Bread Ministries with David Eells

Is Debt Scriptural?

David Eells

We have to cast all our cares on God, follow Him and believe in His financing. Otherwise, we have to finance our works for ourselves. Where God sends, He supplies.

Here is why I say this. God's blessing is to have His financing by grace and not our works for His power is made perfect in our weakness. {Deu.28:2} and all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God... {12} Jehovah will open unto thee his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

However, the cursed will have to get man's financing. {15} But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.... {44} He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

God commands us to lend but not borrow so that the Church is not owned and ruled by the world. {15:6} For Jehovah thy God will bless thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee. {Pro.22:7} The rich ruleth over the poor; And the borrower is servant to the lender. God doesn't want us in bondage and he will soon prove that it is not His way. The bank will soon fall on those who are in debt when they can't pay their bills unless they take the mark. Debtors prison will be restored in order to imprison Christians. to force them to take the mark.

God forbids suretyship, which is mortgaging; borrowing and guaranteeing to pay back. {11:15} He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it; But he that hateth suretyship is secure. {22:26} Be thou not one of them that strike hands, [Or] of them that are sureties for debts. {27} If thou hast not wherewith to pay, Why should he take away thy bed from under thee? {17:18} A man void of understanding striketh hands, And becometh surety in the presence of his neighbor. {Rom.13:8} Owe no man anything, save to love one another... Ministries which go into debt don't put themselves in debt but their people. David Taylor was a good example of fleecing the sheep through manipulation.

We are not permitted to guarantee or swear or promise anything as must be done with suretyship. {Jas.4:13} Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain: {14} whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. {15} For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that. {16} But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil. {17} To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.... {5:12} But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment. {Mat.5:34} but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God; {35} nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. {36} Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black. {37} But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil [one].

In Matthew 5 and Luke 6, the disciples are pictured in the role of lender while the oppressed and wicked are pictured in the role of borrower.

I haven't financed anything in 30 years and God has always paid the bills. He bought my house and my cars and has paid all my bills and I have just run the race of doing what He has called me to do. I haven't received any government money, charity, or even taken offerings. Freewill offerings is one way that God has financed us.

Supply is not our job to worry about but seeking first the kingdom brings all of God's supply. {6:32} For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. {33} But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. {Php.4:18} But I have all things, and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things [that came] from you, and odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. {19} And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

When the Lord sent the disciples out without their own supply, they retuned saying that they lacked nothing. I believe the answer is more faith and not more works here. he wanted disciples who walked by faith. This doctrine forces us to walk by faith in Him to be our Jehovah Jireh; the Lord our provider.

God bless you to come to a good decision.
