God Restored Our Water & Tank

Kaile & Doris Hamilton - 02/12/2011

We had about 10 or so do days straight of below freezing temperatures since the beginning of February. On Tuesday (the 8th), another large cold front came through this part of Texas and with it subzero temperatures and snow. We had our faucets streaming water throughout Monday night to keep the pipes from freezing but shortly after we woke up on Tuesday all the water just stopped.

We did not understand why the pipes still froze but attributed it to the subzero temperatures, wind-chills and snow. We asked the Lord to thaw our pipes and keep them from breaking and cracking that night and had many other brothers and sisters agree with us. As a couple days went by and the weather started to warm up, we realized that the pipes should be thawing.

We kept thanking the Lord for restoring all the water to our house but also asked for wisdom if there was anything that we needed to do in order for this restoration to manifest. We were first reminded of our hot water heater and perhaps the pilot was out, so we went out to look at it and it was out. So, we praised the Lord for bringing that to our attention. We were, however, very confused when the pilot would light but not the burner. We knew that we didn't want to spend money on this house when we know we aren't going to be here for much longer, so we just asked the Lord to fix it.

The Lord reminded my mom that the burner wouldn't light unless there was water coming to it, so we resolved that the pipes were still not completely thawed but continued to ask for wisdom. On Friday, I helped my grandfather as he fiddled around with the pressure switch on the water pressure tank and the hot water tank but we both came away kind of discouraged since the water did not come on.

That night, my mom had the idea that maybe we should turn all the faucets off that we had on in order to hopefully "reset" everything, but to no avail. We knew at that point there was nothing that we could do but trust the Lord; our hands were tied. Once again, before we went to bed we asked for wisdom from the Lord.

On Saturday, we both woke up with the knowledge that the problem was with the pressure tank. I read about water pressure problems online and came away with the thought about using an emery board to make sure there was an electrical connection in the pressure switch. My mom woke up with the thought about the wires running in and out of the pressure switch needing to be adjusted. I went to fiddle around with the pressure switch and as I was back there I began to pray and ask the Lord to restore the water pressure. Simultaneously, my mom cried out to the Lord and said, "Thank you for allowing Kaile to have this victory through Christ Jesus".

Then, all of a sudden I heard a rush of water pressure come through the tank. It was an absolute miracle. My mom and I both started praising and thanking the Lord for restoring the water. We then also checked on the hot water heater and it was also working again.

Sometimes we take for granted the simple things in life that the Lord blesses us with in our busy lives but this allowed us to realize what a blessing having running water really is. Thank you so much, Father, for having grace and mercy on us! What an awesome God we serve!

Through this trial of our faith we learned about having patience, walking by faith and being content in our present circumstances. It seemed like this was even harder for me to be content in waiting for this miracle to manifest because of my desire to be clean. The first few days I was absolutely miserable and I finally broke down and asked the Lord to give me His strength. I was reminded that joy comes from the Lord and I was letting Satan steal my joy. Instead of rejoicing and thanking the Lord for His provision in this wilderness experience we were in, I was too focused on myself and what my flesh was feeling. After I leaned on Him, things were so much easier and I found a way to be thankful through this trial. We got a taste of the wilderness this week and these verses of Scripture really stick out as we look back on this miraculous testimony:

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Hebrews 13:5 Be ye ... content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.

Malachi 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, saith Jehovah of hosts.

He did rebuke the devourer, as we did not have to spend time or money fixing something that God can take care of.

Thank you, Lord, for restoring our water, fixing our water pressure tank and providing for our every need!
